The Secret’s out at last!

At last! I can reveal, that I will be boarding the Oriana next weekend for a trip to the Bruges Christmas Market!  No biggie I hear you say…. But…..I booked this awhile back, but couldn’t say anything as I had booked it for my granddaughter as an 18^th Birthday surprise! (and she is probably one of a handful of people who actually reads my blogs!!).

Keeping a secret, as you can ask anyone who knows me, presents a huge effort of self-control on my part, as I am useless at keeping a confidence.

All you have to say is ‘between me and you…’ or ‘don’t say anything but…..’ and I have to literally clamp my mouth shut or all will be revealed to the first person I see!

So finally, she turned 18yrs old last week, and I was able to tell her that she was going on her very first cruise!  Her face was a picture! Firstly of disbelief, but slowly reality set in and now she is busy planning her wardrobe!   Thank goodness she’s not restricted to just 20kgs!  We’re only going for 2 nights but I think she plans to take a fortnight’s worth of outfits with her ‘just in case’!  There’s one formal night on board so we’re all looking forward to dressing up in our finest.

I’m very interested to know what she thinks of the whole cruising experience, albeit a mini cruise to start with, especially through the eyes of a young adult on an Adult Only ship.

I’ve never experienced the Oriana, so I am really excited about spending time on board.  The feedback I’ve had from my clients is very positive, and they’ve given me some really great tips!

We plan to take the train from Blankenburge into Bruges and wander around the beautiful Christmas market, as well as a whistle stop tour of the town itself.

Of course a visit to Bruges wouldn’t be the same without a bucket of mussels in a wine marinade….yum…

and a hot chocolate and waffles!

Or perhaps one of their fruit beers!
