I’ve been doing my sums on Royal Caribbeans All Inclusive Deal

Firstly let me tell you I’m not known for my mathematical skills, but armed with my trusty calculator and a very large piece of paper, I decided to see if this Royal Caribbean All Inclusive Drinks and Gratuities was all it was cracked up to be.

What prompted this voyage of discovery was that I invariably hear clients say that they don’t drink much and don’t think they would get value for money from purchasing an All Inclusive package.  However we all know that in reality a few beers during the day, soft drinks, wine in the evening during and after your meal soon adds up to a hefty bar bill at the end of your cruise.  I wouldn’t call myself a drinker, in fact I’m a bit of a lightweight, but I can still rack up a few hundred pounds worth of beverages on a 2 week cruise!

We all know about the marketing hype, and lets face it we’ve all fallen for it over the years, myself included and remember that old saying ‘Nowt for Nowt in this world’ or ‘There’s no such thing as a free lunch’.  Well lets see shall we?

I’ve been doing a few calculations on All Inclusive versus Standard and some of you may find the results surprising!

To just briefly explain the All Inclusive package:  Adults receive the Select Drinks Package which consists of:

  • Beer (a selection of bottle, can and draught),
  • Wine by the glass (up to $8 value),
  • Fountain soft drinks with souvenir cup,
  • Non-alcoholic cocktails.

The Select Drinks package costs from $40 per person per day – approximately £25.00 and includes the 15% charged on top of the drink price.         Also included are your gratuities for the duration of your cruise. Thats $12 per person per day – approximately £8-£9.00

Stay with me because here’s the interesting part:

I priced up 2 sailings and compared the cost of the cruise paying the Standard Price against the All Inclusive Price to see what represented better value for money.  See what you think:-
