Are Carnival trying to steal the ‘Big Boys’ Thunder?

With the announcement of a brand new addition to their fleet to include ‘Worlds First’ & ‘Groundbreaking Features’  –  are Carnival  hoping to steal Royal Caribbean and NCL’s thunder?

Carnival Vista –  hailed as the most innovative of their fleet, are confident that the latest features being introduced will be showstoppers!

135,500 Tonnes, 1055ft Long and a Guest Capacity of 3936 she will be the largest ship in Carnival’s Fleet.

She debuts on 1st May 2016 and will be sailing around the Mediterranean from Trieste, before embarking on her transatlantic journey on  21st October, arriving in New York on 3rd November.

So what’s these ground breaking features they’re so excited about?

The first is the ‘World’s First’ IMAX Theatre, which spans 3 decks and will be showing all the latest Hollywood Blockbusters, Classics & Documentaries.  Great if you like to catch a film whilst on board.  But not really my cup of tea, I’d rather be outside…

Next door is the Thrill Theatre, which gives you a multi dimensional special effects experience. Which is a posh way of saying that your seats move with the action on screen! If you’ve ever been to Disney or MGM, you’ll know what I mean.  I would give this a go on  an overcast day.

You can also pick up some popcorn and snacks while you sit back and enjoy the fun!

They’re also introducing an  Industry first –  Skyride –  an 800 ft track pedal powered experience  with ‘cycles’ suspended 150ft above the sea, where you can race each other whilst admiring the panoramic views!  Great Fun!  and not just for the kids!  I would definitely be in the queue for that one!

There’s also the Skycourse.  Suspended ropes above where you can navigate the challenging  course while taking in the views. I’d be a bit careful on this one, although you do have a safety harness.  Too much like hard work for me, I think I’ll stick to the Skyride!

I’m also a great fan of waterparks so Carnivals new improved Kaleid-O-Slide with its Raft Riding water tube slide is right up my street! Imagine, 2 of you in a raft whizzing around the ship on a 455ft track!  Brilliant! and again, not just for the Kids.  Its fun for all the family with Carnival, which is why they are such a popular choice!

Of course after all that excitement you’ll need a drink, so Carnival  have kindly provided 2 giant copper topped glass kettles of home brewed Lager & Beer for you to help yourself to!  Yes, just pour your own from unique table top taps, or from the RedFrog Bar

If all this is just too much excitement, and you’re in need of some R&R, then relax in the Havana Cabanas, all with private patios furnished with lounge chairs and hammocks for you to just sit back and enjoy the views.  You also have easy access to the Promenade Deck and the Havana Bar.

Talking of new staterooms, at long last and warmly welcomed are the introduction of Family Harbor Cabins which can accommodate up to 5 passengers.  As you all know, trying to find a cabin for families with more than 2 children can be a nightmare!

This is just a taste of things to come, so keep an eye out for more information coming soon!
