Britannia brings the Pride back into Britain!

Well, she’s finally here, making her grand entrance into Southampton today, Friday 6th March.

A day which will go down in history, as one that unites us Brits like the World Cup, Wimbledon Tennis, and the Weather!

There’s nothing we like more than getting out our Union Jack flags and singing ‘Rule Britannia’ when the occasion demands!  Makes us feel ‘as one’ and extremely proud and patriotic of our little Island!  And ‘Rule Britannia’ has never been so apt, given the majestic arrival of P&O’s new ship!

The 3,600-passenger vessel is the largest cruise ship designed specifically for the British holiday market, operator P&O said.

It will bear the same name as the Queen’s former Royal Yacht Britannia, which was decommissioned in 1997 after more than 50 years of service.

The Queen will officially name the vessel in Southampton on 10 March.

The 141,000-tonne ship, which features a 94m (308ft) Union Flag on her bow, will then make her maiden voyage to Spain, Italy and France on 14 March.   She will sail from Southampton during the summer and from the Caribbean in the winter. In her first year, Britannia is set to visit 57 ports in 31 countries, sailing over 90 thousand miles!

Like I mentioned before in my previous blog, I am lucky enough to be one of the first passengers boarding Britannia on sunday the 8th March  for an overnight stay. and as the day draws near, and having seen the footage of her arrival today, I am getting more and more excited at the prospect of walking into the Atrium and being blown away by the beauty of the Starburst chandelier!  I shall probably spend the first hour in jaw dropping mode, seeing all the amazing features we’ve all been reading about!.  I’m particularly interested in seeing the restaurants, The Glass House, with wines selected by Olly Smith, the Market Cafe with Eric Lanard and his french style patisserie, Atul Kochhar’s Sindhu restaurant offering exotic spices, and the Limelight Club, which will feature guest entertainers!  So much to take in!

I will also be investigating the Cookery Club and may come across James Martin!(one lives in hope) who will be helping passengers create their very own culinary masterpieces under his watchful and may I say seductive eye!

I’ve got my camera on charge, and my ‘selfie stick’ to take as many photo’s as possible to give you a glimpse of what you can expect when you board this magnificent, majestic, new ship!  BRITANNIA RULES!!

In the meantime why not enter our free competition to enjoy a 7 night cruise departing on 5th September 15 (transferable if you cant go)!  Just click on this link: http://www.cruise.co.uk/guides/current-competition-main/
