Goggleboxed For P&O Britannia!

As part of P&O’s forthcoming launch of Britannia in Southampton on Tuesday 10th March, they decided to produce a ‘Gogglebox’ style film and invited agents, including myself to film our  reactions and comments relating to the new ship, her design, on board facilities and some of the celebrities involved.

I love Gogglebox and have been an avid follower of the  Channel 4 programme since it started.  I’ve got a few favourites,  Steph & Dom, Chris & Stephen and the Siddiqui family, so I was feeling just a little apprehensive about appearing on TV, and to come across as natural and entertaining as them.

After stressing out as to exactly what to wear for my TV debut. They said ‘casual’ but having seen the programme, there was no way I was wearing a onesie and slippers!   I decided in the end to style myself on Steph, as like me, she hails from Kent!  So off to Southampton I went, excited at the prospect of being part of this historic event.

Once there, my colleague and I were miked up, given a glass of wine to steady our nerves and before we knew it the camera was rolling!

Conversation and wine flowing nicely!

I’ve got to say after the initial minute or so of getting used to the camera, the boom, and 3 guys staring at us, the conversation just came naturally, and we had so much fun!  Of course it helped that my colleague and I have known each other for a few years, and the banter just flowed (as did the wine!)

It all seemed to be over in a flash, which was a great shame, but we were complimented by the film crew who said we were brilliant, naturals, and should be on the real programme!!  We both blushed like mad, but I think perhaps it was the effects of the wine on an empty stomach! The film will be shown on board Britannia on sunday 8th March in front of hundreds of invited guests so I’m praying my appearance goes down well!

Rocking the Britannia Livery socks!

I have also been very fortunate to be invited to spend the night on board, sampling all the amazing features and facilities and feel very privileged to do so.  Of course now I’m stressing on what to wear for the formal evening – Long or Short? Black or Print?  Before the festivities begin however, there’s work to be done. We have been tasked with exploring the ship taking lots of pictures and written about our experience on board, before we can let our hair down.

Britannia Ticket

Having had an exclusive preview whilst making the promotional film, I really can’t wait for Sunday to see Britannia in the flesh! And with the excellent news that Her Majesty The Queen will be officially naming Britannia on Tuesday 10th March at the Ocean Terminal, with the Duke of Edinburgh, (a huge feather in P&O’s cap) A Truly Majestic occasion don’t you think?

What with Prince William’s successful tour of Japan at the moment, following in his late mother Diana’s footsteps, his wife Katherine’s forthcoming birth of her 2nd child and news that Prince Harry will be leaving the military to pursue a career, perhaps becoming an Ambassador for the UK, again like his late mother, I believe that in 2015  BRITANNIA RULES!

Coming soon! Exclusive pictures on board Britannia!
