Where To Cruise From? Miami Of Course!

This week saw the announcement of a world record being smashed!

The Port of Miami has released it’s passenger numbers departing from there in 2014, and boy do they show some impressive numbers!

The stats show that in 2014, 4.8 million passengers cruised from Miami to various different places, mainly the Caribbean of course but hey there are a lot of islands to choose from!

That means roughly 13,000 passengers every day cruising from this behemoth of international ports.

Here you can see the huge scale of this deep water port, able to berth six ships at once!

How have they accomplished these amazing numbers you ask?

Well for 2014, Miami Port has watched over 30 ships sail to and from her, taking hundreds of nationalities out to experience the best holidays money can buy.

Over 13 cruise lines have put their faith in Miami once again this year, and she has clearly repaid them by showing these awesome figures.

Of course, Travel Agents and Tour Companies also help massively, on both sides of the pond.

This year again saw phenomenal numbers of Brits getting out to Miami to pick up their cruise, and why not!

Granted Miami airport is a bit slow to get through, but it’s a small price to pay if you are staying in the city for a couple of days prior to boarding.

Florida in general is awesome, and there is no better place to start than Miami.

So what for the future?

Well for 2015, Miami will have another two cruise brands in addition to what she already had this year, which is great news for all concerned.

All the big lines will be sailing from Miami Port at one stage or another, so why not start today! As I have said many times before, a Stay and Cruise makes a much better holiday, so if you find a cruise that is not quite long enough, just fly out 3 or 4 days earlier and take in Miami Beach, or zoom round the Everglades on a hovercraft in Fort Lauderdale. Even taken in a theme park at Orlando, or go and catch some racing at Daytona – there really is something for everyone!

From a British point of view, the only improvements I feel could be made, would be longer duration cruises from Miami, and maybe the addition of a Miami charter flight from regional airports, I think this would really improve sales from our side. But I guess that is for the airlines and cruise lines to negotiate!

Anyway I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog for today, to let my readers and clients know I will be away as of tomorrow until next week as I am sailing on Queen Mary 2 for a long weekend to Bruges, so look out for my thoughts on my next blog!

Thanks for reading and as ever, until next time……………..
