Are Customers Really Ready For Anthem of the Seas?

I’ve had several conversations recently from customers concerned after reports that Royal Caribbeans new ‘Dynamic Dining’  aboard Anthem of the Seas is all a bit complex and is confusing both customers and staff alike.

It’s all good having all that choice in terms of dining venues but if you can’t eat in them when you want then what’s the point in having them?

I blogged over a year ago about my concerns about Dynamic Dining and how I thought it was just another way for the cruise lines to make extra cash, which to be honest, in business terms, is expected from a cruise line.

But they seem to have stuck with the ‘various choices included’ approach, which is good that they are not just trying to squeeze money out of customers, but bad because they don’t seem to have it quite right in terms of organisation.

Obviously it’s far too soon to judge, the Anthem isn’t even sailing yet but there is one thing that worries me even more than this modern spin on dining, and that is the ultra modern technological way the ship operates, something that Royal Caribbean are very proud of.

My main worry is that most customers are only just recently getting used to the idea of, E-Tickets and Online Check-Ins.

Now the cruise lines want their customers ordering their drinks with robots and viewing their menu’s on iPads!

It’s all gone a bit barmy hasn’t it?

Granted RCCL are the absolute  pioneers of cruise line technology, and perhaps it’s well received in the USA – although Quantum has been in the Far East and Anthem starts her life in Europe, so maybe not so?

Personally as impressive a creation as the Anthem is, I wonder if she is a little before her time? Is the cruise industry really ready for her yet?

Would love to know what people think about this?

Are you booked on Anthem and a looking forward to the uber modern style of cruise, or are you actually a little bit scared?

She is certainly going to be a controversial choice in years to come, and it’s interesting to think about the future of cruising if this is a glimpse at what’s to come.

Thanks for reading, and as always, until next time…………
