Rough Time For The Anthem Of The Seas

Excuse the pun above but it really does seem that one of Royal Caribbean newest ships the Anthem Of The Seas isn’t have to much luck, She left New York on Saturday 6th February for a 7 night sailing and has got caught up in a terrible storm on her way down to the Bahamas.

It has been reported that a storm brewed up very fast from Sunday  with winds over 130 MPH and 40ft waves reaching as high as deck 8. Unfortunately it was to late for the ship to turn around and head back and was ‘stuck’ as such to battle the storm out. The captain advised passengers to stay in there cabins and the ship has been tilting to the side. Scary stuff, I wouldn’t like to be onboard personally in these conditions.

A crew member has reported of crockery and food has fallen all over the galley areas, causing complete mess and destruction.

The Anthem Of The Seas is a large ship indeed, with a tonnage of 167,000, she is 348 meters in length with approximately 4180 passengers onbaord plus crew. Im sure the Captain is doing a fantastic job to keep all passengers and crew safe and to ride the storm out as safely as possible to get down to Florida and the Bahamas where the temperatures will warm up for guests and the seas will hopefully be much calmer.

Unfortunately no one can quite predict what mother nature has in store for us, whether it be the sea conditions, or the general weather conditions of your chosen holiday destination. I have many customers asking how the ‘Sea’ will be, but of course you just never know! Its the million dollar question!

Would it put you of cruising all together if you encountered such terrible weather?

Or have you ever been caught up in a bad storm on a cruise? Let me know your stories.

Thoughts to everybody currently onboard Anthem Of The Seas, I am sure things will ease off soon!
