Praying For Our Friends In Cuba

You may have heard in the news about hurricane Matthew currently set to cause havoc around the Caribbean, particularly in Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti. I have been following the news quite closely regarding this hurricane and its not looking very good, she has been given a category 5 which is the strongest hurricane to hit the area since 2007 and winds are expected to reach in excess of 155MPH.

We traveled to Cuba in 2014, to a fantastic resort hotel called Playa Pesquero in the Holguin area of eastern Cuba. We had such a fantastic holiday the hotel was superb and the staff just make your holiday, they are so friendly and welcoming, even though they have very little they always greet you with a huge smile and really appreciate any gifts you have for them and there families, we loved the holiday so much we have booked to go back in December this year and take out little boy with us who will be nearly 2.

Unfortunately its not looking good, the locals are preparing for the hurricane to hit which is die late Monday night or the early hours of Tuesday morning, many of there homes are made from tin and wood and this will be devastating for the families. The last time a hurricane hit the staff members in the hotel slept in the conference room in the hotel not knowing whether there homes still stood or families members were ok.

Guests in the hotel are being taken by coach to the Cayo Islands just off Cuba for there  safety, this is around a 5 hour drive form Holguin.

Most flights in and out of Holguin have been cancelled today and tomorrow in preparation of the events to come.

All locals and tourists alike are in my thoughts over the next couple of days, I really hope the hurricane cools down or changes direction in the coming hours.
