Airline Launches Child Free Zone

This has always been a sore area you could say, some people welcome the idea of child free flying where as others not so much! It has receebtly been released that an Indian budget airline IndiGo has launched a ‘quiet zone’ onboard its aircrafts, it forms part of the premium cabin and can only be reserved if you are over 12 years old, so no children allowed!

But IndiGo are not the only airline offering child free flying, Singpore based airline Scoot offers Scoot Silence, where guests can upgrade to a child free area of the aircraft, as well as AirAsia who offer child free zones and Air Malaysia offers this service too.

It seems to me there is a pattern with the airlines based in the Far East and now spreading to India!

British airways has confirmed they are and always will be a family airline and will continue where possible to always board families first.

Ok, so I get it, the worst thing you can hear when your flying is a screaming baby or a naughty child kicking your seat but think of the bigger picture? I am a mummy now to my beautiful little boy Alfie who is 2 in December and I now think of the wider picture.

Children have to travel to, just because you have a child doesn’t mean you have to holiday in the UK and flights are of bound! Baby’s cry, its normal thats what they do, they may be hungry or uncomfortable, or there ears my hurt a little, even adults can suffer from sore ears when flying! And that child thats being naughty, maybe they have a disability ? You shouldn’t always judge.

I always feel sorry for the parents, when a child is crying you can guarantee most of the time the parents are feeling embarrassed and are trying hard to calm the child down, and most of all you can guarantee they are thinking oh no the other passengers will be cursing us! And if you happen to be ‘unlucky’ and are sat infront or behind a toddler why not just flash them a quick smile, rather than a grumpy look which straight away will make the child and parents feel more on edge knowing you are unhappy too be sat near them!

And dont judge, that child that you have unfortunately been sat next to may be as good as gold, just because they are little doesn’t mean they will cause noise!

I am so lucky with Alfie, he loves flying and is always as good as gold. Yes he is inquisitive and may want to look at the seats in front and behind him to see whos there , and yes he may sometimes fancy a walk along the aisle to stretch his legs just as adults do but he doesn’t scream or shout and we normally get comments form fellow passengers at the end of the flight to say what a  good boy he has been.

On my last flight which was to Menorca the cabin crew advised they were carrying a very surprising amount of infants onboard, 14! Apparently they never normally have anywhere near this on a flight, dont get me wrong some children were a little on the noisier side but they were excited, or feeling tired maybe they soon calmed down.

Children are the future, we were all there once! And maybe not as lucky as the youth of today who get to travel around the world from such a young age, I think its fantastic to let children travel and show them the world.
