P&O Are Getting Bigger!

It has recently been announced that British cruise liner P&O cruises is set to build another ship to add to there fleet and its going to be even bigger than the latest addition the Britannia which carries 3,647 passengers.

The unnamed ship is set for delivery in 2020 and will carry around 5,200 passengers and will top 180,000 tonnes, huge!

She will be built in Germany and Finland and is one of the first ships to be LNG powered, which stands for Liquid Natural Gas, which significantly reduces air emissions and is environmentally friendly.

It seems the way forward for the cruise liners is to get bigger and better, but not everyone enjoys the large ship atmosphere, many of the regular P&O customers prefer there more traditional smaller ships such as the Arcadia and Oriana but the cruise market is getting bugger by the day and attracting a younger market to who prefer larger ships with more bars, more restaurants and generally more facilities and entertainment venues to choose from.

The Britannia has proven to be a huge hit and has exceeded expectations so P&O are taking all of the best bits plus adding awhole new host of facilties to make the new addition even better and bigger!

She will be a family friendly ship unlike the adult only ships in the fleet the Oriana and Arcadia. The smaller adult only ships will always have many repeat customers who enjoy the traditional ships without all of the razzmatazz!

How do you feel? Would you sail on the new ‘large’ ship?

Personally I love the bigger ships, I have cruised on what was the worlds largest ship until recently the Allure of the seas and I am quite excited to see how the new P&O ship will look and what facilities she is set to have as more details will get released over the next few years!
