School Holiday Travel Madness!

We have just returned on our annual family summer holiday with my husband, little boy who is one and my step son who is 10. Now as we all know travelling during the 6 weeks holidays is always expensive in all aspects, form the airlines to hotels or even cruising all prices seem to hike up come the end of July to us parents dismay!

After searching for for a ‘deal’ as we all do, we settled on a  week in Tenerife, and if you follow my blog you will know i have been here many times including April this year already but it was the best value so I didn’t mind as long as the sun was shining id happily travel anywhere! We booked up for a weeks all inclusive in Costa Adeje which was nothing fancy just  3* family hotel with 2 pools, kids clubs , 2 bars the usual facilities you can expect to find.

We flew out from Birmingham airport with monarch at 6am, really! I didn’t think that one through, getting 2 kiddies up at this time and to the airport is tough! So with 2 tired boys and a tired mummy and daddy we finally made it, Alfie had a quick half hour snooze on the plane and was raring to go! Actually he is a great little traveler, he sits on my lap watches his favorite tv programmes on my iphone , plays with his toys and loved looking out of the window, when theres something to see of course!

So having traveled to Tenerife before, we knew just how fantastic Siam Park is. its voted the best waterpark in Europe and i have to agree its fantastic! David and myself have spent the day at the park before which is just a quick 10 minute taxi ride if that form the resort and we have told Ben all about it, how fantastic it was and what a great day we were going to have! Not considering its august, the UK school holidays are in full swing as it seems was possibly the whole of Europe ( or it felt that way!). The waterpark was so busy it was crazy, we even arrived an hour before the rides opened! We managed 1 waterslide and the lazy river and by midday we hopped in a  taxi back to the hotel. It wasn’t very nice for Alfie with so many people you couldn’t walk around, the lazy river was bumper to bumper and the waterslides had a 90 minute wait, 90 minutes for a waterslide? no thanks!

So my moral of the story, and to myself for future reference don’t go to siam park in august! and always expect any attraction and holiday destination to be extra busy!
