My Holiday in Thailand.

Are you thinking of going to Thailand?? Well let me tell you about my trip there before you make up your mind.

Thailand was my second holiday after the Maldives so it had a lot to live up too. After all Maldives was the most magical holiday of all and surely nothing could compare to this could it?  The way I looked at it was that it wouldn’t be as special however it would be a completely different holiday and would have to find the other positives that the Maldives didn’t. have.

I flew with Ethiad who were a very nice airline. We were staying at the Rockys boutique hotel in Koh Samui. The flight stopped in Abu Dhabi and Bangkok on route to Koh Samui. It was a 24 hour journey from door to door. When we arrived in Koh Samui and took our transfer to the hotel I couldn’t help but notice how poor the country was. It was really run down and a million miles away from the Maldives. There is a but. A huge BUT. Things changed when I got to the hotel. It was stunning. It wasn’t a big hotel complex like you get on some holidays you go too. There were individual villas for each person. Ours had a pool View. The staff were so friendly. In fact everybody that I met in Thailand were really friendly. Some of the nicest people you would ever meet. I think the people on a holiday are the ones that make it.

After the first day we ventured out of the hotel into the town centre called Lamai. Again it didn’t seem run down. However the more time I spent there, it started to feel normal. There are massage ladies sitting in the street trying to get you in for a full Thai massage for only £2. You can take a tuk tuk around to where ever you wanted to go for next to nothing. You can go to the local market it pick up clothes electronics and pretty much anything you wanted for a knock down prices as long as you haggled. One thing I would say is the Thai people weren’t pushy at all. I had been to markets in other countries and hated it. I really enjoyed haggling in Thailand. I went into a shop and has a suite fitting. By the end of the week I had a full tailored suit made with the material and colour of my choice for only £100.

The weather was great in Thailand. We did get some wet days however it clears up in next to no time and goes back to being 30 degrees again. I think its a similar temperature all year round. Some months are just hotter than others.

We went to see Thai Boxing while we were there and the famous lady boy show. I actually enjoyed this much to my surprise.

All in all I would definitely go back to Thailand and I would encourage everybody to go there. I would probably go to a different island next time just so I can say I have been. Although I would do Koh Samui again. Thailand has something for everybody. Good weather. lovely people. Great bargains to buy. Lots of history and amazing white sandy beaches.
