My Favourite place in the world is…….

Today I wanted to talk about my favourite holiday destination in the world and why I think everybody in the world should go at least once whether you think it is a place for you or not. That place is the Maldives.

I went to the Maldives for my honeymoon in 2014 and it is my favourite place in the world and the holiday destination I would love to go back to most. I have been lucky enough to go to many places around the world however this one is special.

Before booking my honeymoon I was a bit dubious about going for a few reasons. The first reason was that on such a tiny island would there be enough for me to do?? I am very active and In am not the sort of person that likes to just lounge around on the beach. Secondly would the weather be OK. I went in August and through speaking to people heard that this is the rainy season and could rain the whole day. I went to Dubai for 4 nights on my honeymoon also, so knew if the weather was bad at least i could guarantee 4 good nights. As I type there is a third reason I didn’t want to go. The dreaded seaplane. This is a small propeller plane that will take you from Male which is the main airport to which ever island you were staying in. So here you have what is suppose to be the most magical and best holiday you are ever suppose to have and I choose a place with the potential that I will be bored out of my brain in a wet country after a horrendous travel to get there.

After my 4 nights in Dubai. I took a 3.5 hour flight with Emirates from Dubai to Male airport. I was surprised when I got to Male how tiny the airport was. About 5 minutes after getting to the airport we found out luggage. (None of this waiting around whilst yours is the last lot of luggage to turn up). I was then taken to the four seasons lounge whilst we waited for our private speedboat to turn up. (The seaplane comes later in the trip). The 25 minute speedboat journey to the first of 2 islands was pretty hairy. However the minute I stepped off the boat all the worries in the build up disappeared. I feel like I arrived in heaven. The name of the island was 4 seasons Kuda Hura. Think of a post code with an exotic island on it and x it be 100 and this was this island.

The food. On the first night. We were booked into the Indian restaurant. This was voted in the top 5 Indian restaurants in the whole of Asia. Pretty special.  On the second night I had the best filet steak I have ever tasted. It is still to this day. We were also had tables right on the beach front.

The staff. The staff at this particular island again were the best staff you could wish for. They knew you by name. Always so happy and proud to be doing there job. It would make you a happier person just being around them.

The spa. To get to the spa you had to get a mini boat as it was on its own island. while laying down having a massage the panels in the floor were glass so you could see the fish swimming past as you were being pampered.

After my 3 nights at 4 seasons Kuda Hura it was time to transfer to 4 seasons Landaa Giraavaru. Surely nothing could top what I had just experienced could it? It was now time for the seaplane between both islands. All I can say is you have to try this at least once. You can barely feel it move once in the air and the views at the the different atols below are breathtaking. After a 20 minute seaplane ride i arrived in heaven part 2

The beach. Just wow. This beach is something else.  Pure white sandy beaches. Pure paradise.

The Villa. At both island we opted for a beach Villa. This Villa was out of the world. We have our own private pool. A tree house with a hammock and enough day beds around to sleep over 10 people.

Snorkelling. Im a good swimmer but I prefer normally to swim in a pool. However you cannot go to the Maldives and not go snorkelling. You couldn’t get me out of the seas. the Fish were incredible. You didn’t ever have to go that deep with fish swimming up to where ever you were.

All in all this was the most magical holiday I have even had and I dont think anything will ever beat it. One day If I ever win the lottery I will go back. For now it will just remain in my memories.
