Wheelchair Accessible Cabins

Everyone loves to cruise and enjoy the benefits on-board whilst cruising on a lovely itinerary and holiday you have been working hard to achieve. However in recent times I have come up against an ongoing issue of available wheelchair accessible cabins. Some customers love to book their cruise a year in advance such as myself, as this then gives me the early saver discounts and almost a year with installments to pay.

However I have seen a growing impact of customers who are now booking late deals as they feel that they are getting better value for money and bigger discounts – Although not always the case. None the less we see customers who need wheelchair accessible cabins being compromised for leaving it to the last minute deals due to the lack of wheelchair accessible cabins.

When cruise lines decide to build the next best and biggest ship should they be taking into account they should be building / supplying more wheelchair accessible cabins. Customers that do not require wheelchair accessible cabins that book into these cabins are told they could face being removed and transferred to another cabin, which is understandable. After all why should customers that are wheelchair bound be denied the same right as any other customer – “having a cabin that suits their needs”.

What are you thoughts on the matter? Are you a wheelchair user or know of someone that needs a wheelchair to get around that may have faced this in the past? If so I would really like to hear your views?
