Virtual Balconies vs Balconies

Some customers  might say a balcony cabin or higher is the only way to cruise, however for some customers with lower budgets this is not always the case. However Royal Caribbean has taken this into consideration with some inside cabins now having virtual balconies.

The concept is to have a virtual view that a balcony would offer with views of the sea and beyond. The virtual balcony is a live network feed of a camera that shows exactly what is outside at the time. In my opinion cruise lines should be taking the next step to provide this with various inside cabins offering customers the choice.

In my experience some customers will say they don’t like the inside cabins due to no natural in the cabin and I know the virtual balcony is not natural light but it certainly gives you that quirky feeling of having a balcony view. Royal Caribbean are the first to come up with this concept and we seem to be seeing a lot more customers booking these types of cabin due to a lower budget.

Over the years I have booked inside, outside, balcony and junior suites cabins and I would certainly say due to budget I would most certainly consider booking an inside cabin with a virtual balcony. What are you thoughts? Is this just another new quirky concept that Royal Caribbean has that no other cruise is yet to offer?
