Life Guards On-Board

In your opinion should cruise lines make it compulsory to have life guards on-board all of their fleet. Personally, I feel that in such area’s where there is a pool concerned there should be a trained first aid life guard. Over the years I have heard of several incidents where there has been an accident in or around the pool that may or could have been avoided had there been a life guard to look out.

As I am sure many parents would agree for the safety of their children, which you can read the parents, not lifeguards blog from the following – http://www.cruise.co.uk/blog/parents-not-lifeguards-say-99-of-cruisers/

However it is not just children that need supervision as I have recently spoken to one of my customers on returning from their cruise from the USA who said there was a few incidents of customers getting drunk and falling out of the pool / jacuzzi. I feel that by having supervised trained lifeguards on-board this could help prevent many of the accidents that occur on-board. What is it going to take for cruise lines to adhere to safety on-board in and around the pool area? What are you thoughts???
