Back in Time for Dinner!

So I have recently been watching a television program called “Back in Time for Dinner” which relates to how the UK would eat from decade to decade and it made me think how this was implemented in the cruising world from the 1950’s to now!

From the 1950’s to now you can see how the dining experience has not changed dramatically in regards to how you you dine on-board. But you can clearly see the fine art that was implementing back in the 1950’s with the service and experience from formal evenings to captain cocktail parties which are still available now on most ships and itineraries.

However over the years you can see how the dining experience has changed from dining in one main restaurant to to now having various restaurants to dine in. You now have the choice of dress up or dress down, A La Carte to buffet and and also freedom dining.

However was there much difference as to what we were eating or what was being served back in the 1950’s then compared to now? In my opinion I am sure the food and service was just as great as it is now.

What are your thoughts?
