2016 What A Year!!

Firstly I would like to wish all my clients a very Happy New Year and hope you all had a great Christmas with loved ones.

It’s hard to believe we are nearly in to 2017 already. It seems like two minutes ago we were seeing in 2016!

They do say time fly’s when you’re having fun and 2016 has certainly been a great year for me travel wise. Both through work and with my own holiday adventures.

What is it they say “It’s not about the destination it’s about the journey” and that has certainly been true when I look back on some of the great Ships and adventures I’ve on in 2016

MARCH – I did a once in a lifetime or Bucket list adventure with my Partner Matthew. We sailed on Board Fred Olsens Balmoral all the way from Southampton up in to the Arctic Circle as Far as Alta. Of course we had our fingers crossed we would see the the Northern lights and we were not disappointed. We saw them three times in the end and had the pleasure of watching a magical Display over the city of Tromso from the comfort of the aft bar of the ship. We also had the best experience with the do it yourself dog sledding.

Balmoral

MAY– In May I visited the Old Spanish Favourite Marbella for a hen party with some friends. A giddy time was had by all and of course no trip would be complete with out a little boat trip so we hired a small Yacht one afternoon to sail around and enjoy the Spanish sunshine!

Marbella

JUNE –  I experienced Azamara for the first time with a Voyage from Southampton to Amsterdam. It  may have been a short trip but the great food, Included drinks and Exclusive Azamazing Events held on every cruise certainly made a lasting impression.

JULY –   Visited the brand new Holland America ship Konningsdam at her home port of Amsterdam. One of the nicest and most interesting ships I have seen in a long time. A beautiful musical theme throughout the whole ship, even the atrium is designed to look like the inside of a Harp. She’s proving that popular that Amsterdam is considering moving the cruiseterminal just to cope with the amount of cruise passengers!

SEPT – We had the pleasure of seeing my partner Matthew sister get married to the love of her life at the stunning Inn on the Lake in Cumbria.

OCT – I was very lucky to spend four nights on board the beautiful Silver Spirit. From Butlers to a Michelin star chef being flown out to serve dinner one evening this really was a taste of luxury cruising at it’s very best.

Butler

NOV – Started off with a trip back to Amsterdam to attend the annual River cruise convention. River cruising has become so popular in the last few years and this was an invaluable trip learning about what each lines unique selling points are. We were also given the chance tour some of the ships in port and we’re lucky to have been invited to stay on board the beautiful Tauck Grace. I’ll be writing a more in depth blog about this in the new year so keep an eye out.

Tauck

Another bucketlist adventure this year was Flying out to Singapore where I spent 2 nights exploring this wonderful city before boarding the Celebrity Millenium and sailing to Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. Again I’ll be writing more about this trip in my coming blogs!

Singapore

DEC – The Cruise.co.uk Annual Conference. This year hosted by Fred Olsen on board the Boudicca. It’s not just a party cruise it’s become a tradition at Cruise.co and with the growth of the company over the past few years and the fact most of us work from home and are based all over the country it’s the one time of year where we all have the chance to get together.
