The Hills Are Alive !!!

I have just had a really lovely weekend, and, as I normally work Saturdays it was  a real treat to have two days off in a row.

The weekend started on Friday evening with a friends 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration, they took ten of us to a lovely local restaurant for dinner and it was really lovely, if a late night!

On Saturday morning my friend and I set out on the journey to North Wales to see another friends daughter perform in the Sound of Music.

Its a long time since I saw Julie Andrews star in the role of Maria and, to be honest, I wasn`t really that excited about the 3 hour drive to North Wales to see another performance of the ever popular musical.

Anyway off we went, up through the hills towards Ruthin. Last time I visited it was deep in snow but Saturday was an easy journey. The performance was at the John Ambrose Theatre and performed by the Ruthin Musical Theatre Group.

I really  don`t know what I was expecting but it certainly wasn`t this – it was really good !  I suppose I thought it would be a really amateur show with very average actors but no! Very professional and I actually enjoyed this  more than the original as I really listened to the story properly.

Francesca played one of the children, Louisa, and she loved playing the art as Louisa is a fun character with a mischievous nature. She was really good too! The show was really excellent, certainly not the amateur production I had anticipated.

We stayed overnight in Wales and had lunch at a local restaurant before heading home. We ate a place  called Pant-yr- Ochain, near Wrexham ( don`t ask me what it means ! ) The food was lovely and there was another surprise in store ! Now I am a big fan of Coronation Street,  ( sorry ) but I am useless at recognising people – my friend Jane isn`t though!

The table next door to ours was decorated with balloons and streamers, all in silver so we guessed probably another wedding anniversary. As the party began to arrive eagle eyed Jane said ” look he`s on Coronation Street ” It was Owen Armstrong ! He is actually actor Ian Puleston – Davies and looks a lot smaller in real life than on the screen – and no we didn`t ask for his autograph!

The weekend was over and the drive back home seemed to take ages. Monday morning was back to work but with one little bit more excitement before starting work on Monday around 1030.

There is a new programme  on BBC 1 at 9.15 every morning this week called The Legalizer. This features my next door neighbour ( but 3 ) Gary Bell. If you do get a chance watch it, he is really good and is just himself !

A bit if a stage struck weekend I think !
