Sunshine and Spray Tans

Well it was back to work for me on Monday of this week after a lovely holiday in Cannes, South of France. The weather was glorious and the beaches lovely, perfect for getting a little bit of a tan for the return to the English summer. It was raining as we flew out of Heathrow and the moment we left terminal 5 on our return the heavens opened – and, as we all know, it hasn’t stopped raining all week although today does seem to be a little better fingers crossed.

Cannes is a lovely resort, although a bit expensive. Great for shopping and eating with loads of excellent restaurants to choose from. During my stay there we saw several cruise ships visiting such as  Norwegian Epic, Mariner of the Seas and Azamara Journey. Cruising is a really great way to see the resort for the first time as you will get the whole day there with time to explore.

The only problem was I came home with less of a suntan than when I got on the plane! The reason – a spray tan !!

Now I have never had a spray tan before but my friend, in her wisdom, thought it would be a good idea to have one before the holiday – just on our legs so that we wouldn`t look too pale on the beach. We then decided – with a little persuasion from the tanning salon – that we might as well go for the whole body thing – apparently it makes for a more even appearance.

We decided to go for the medium colour not too pale and not too dark – the dark one is the one all the TOWIE girls go for apparently ! To get the tan you have to get into a sort of tent thing and pose in all kinds of positions as the salon girl sprays you all over to ensure an even coverage. We followed all the instructions – exfoliate – no deodorant – n0 make up – no body lotion – all in the quest for the perfect colour. When the session is over you are told not to shower until the next day and to wear loose clothing, the tan should then last for about 7 days.

All seemed fine. I climbed into the shower the next morning, before the drive to Heathrow, and was a little alarmed so see orange water all around me but we had been told this would happen so hey ho – that was fine.

It was only when we arrived at the Heathrow around 6am when we began to realise what we exactly looked like ! 2 Orange striped Zebras would be a good description.

My noise had an orange stripe down the middle and whiite sides, my legs were orange and white streaks all over and my hand were white on the sides and orange everywhere else ! As we walked through Heathrow people kept staring at our feet ! Needless to say the first thing I did on arrival at the apartment was to leap in the shower and SCRUB !!!! Fortunately the colour does start to fade quite quickly and by the end of the first week, and a few days of real sunshine, we did look almost normal again. Needless to say its pale and interesting for me in the future.

I’ve tried to find a picture to describe what I`m on about and the best I can come uo with is one of Donald Trump – see what you think.
