Whilst I was in Australia, I ticked off quite a few things from my Bucket List!!
One being to cuddle a Koala which I did at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This is a great place to visit for a brilliant day out whilst in Brisbane. It is approx 20/25 minute drive from the city. I was lucky enough to be taken by some friends for the day – Angie & Glynn. We arrived about 11am so had the whole day there.
There are lots of animals here not just Koala’s – we started by visiting all the birds which I love so saw various breeds including Tawny Frogmouth which is similar to an owl (I actually had one of these on my balcony one night – more on that later)… I also saw Kookaburra which is native to Australia. If you watch I’m a Celebrity Get me out of here, its the bird you can hear in the background. They are lovely birds and I actually got close to one whilst in Tangalooma but that will be on a future blog. Birds here are owls, kestrels, kites, falcons, eagles, parrots and many more.
If you are in Brisbane for the day from a cruise this is a great day out so check out your excursions and be sure to visit – you won’t be disappointed!
Also here they have goats, crocodiles, dingos, lizards, snakes, platypus, wombats, possums, tasmanian devils & so many more. There are over 95 different species of animals and a completely alternative adventure to UK zoos & parks.

Spooning a Kangaroo
Amazing experience
As you can see I cuddled a Koala called Sinamen, she was adorable, very soft and cuddly, she didn’t want to let go – the keeper said they can sense if you are an animal person & I am so I got a bit longer to hold her as she was so comfortable. I didn’t want to put her down. This experience costs $20 AUD and you get a professional photo and a calendar as a souvenir which was great value for money. This was one of the most amazing things I did whilst there.
I would also recommend a few nights in Brisbane before going on a cruise as there is so many wonderful places to visit, you will then be sure to fit all these in then relax on your cruise.
I will finish for now but will continue my Australia adventure in future blogs.
Please do not hesitate to contact me to arrange your Australia cruise & stay holiday.
