Time to give up the Cigs ??

If you’re a smoker then it seems that the cruising world is against you I’m afraid.  Royal Caribbean jump on the band wagon with the likes of Celebrity, MSc , Princess etc. and from the 01stJanuary 2014 you will no longer be able to smoke on your balcony. This will be implanted due to customer feedback and evolving industry standards. Under this new policy, all indoor public spaces will be smoke free, with the exception of the Casino and the Connoisseur Club on Freedom and Voyager Class ships. In the Casino, there will be designated smoking and non-smoking areas.

Additionally, smoking will not be permitted in the staterooms or on stateroom balconies. Outdoor smoking areas will be designated on the starboard side of all ships.

Indoor smoking areas permit electronic cigarettes. Cigars and pipe tobacco can be enjoyed in designated outdoor areas, or in the cigar club on the ships that offer this venue.

Being a reformed smoker myself I have to admit I am in agreement with the cruise lines new procedures and believe that smoking on the Balcony should be banned.  It isn’t very nice for the people in neighbouring cabins especially if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction and it can waft into the stateroom so for future guests that stale smoke smell can linger.  You still have the Casino which is always a brilliant atmosphere and lively with a good group of people and also you can still smoke in designated areas outside on deck which is perfect to get outside and see some spectacular views as your cruising along and puffing away.
