The Power Of Facebook

Never underestimate the power of Facebook as it isn’t only used for gossip and never-ending updates from people who you couldn’t really care less about (be honest!!) No, it has been used as a voting platform for the naming of two brand new ships to be launched by Norwegian Cruise Lines. The cruise line have decide to hand the power over to their ‘Norwegians’ as they like to call their past guests.  The cruise lines Facebook fans choose the names for the two ships in an online vote that gave them a choice from a possible 10 options. More than a 100,000 votes were cast during a two week period from the US, Canada, Spain, Germany and the UK.

The Chief Executive Kevin Sheehan, was said to be ‘absolutely overwhelmed’ from the response and said that It reaffirms that we have a very engaged and passionate community of Norwegians and we are thrilled with the names they have selected for our two new Breakaway Plus class ships. Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss are two names that truly characterise our brand, Freestyle Cruising®, and the experience guests will have on board these fantastic new vessels,” he added.
 

The ships will be the largest in the fleet and will be very similar in design to the Breakaway which was launched in May. I was lucky enough to visit the Breakaway and have to say they are beautiful in design. Very innovative and so many choices and options for dining you really are spoilt for choice. If you’re looking for freedom and flexibility then Ncl is the cruise line for you.
