Carnival have got some bottle !!!

We all know that cruise lines make a lot of money from the sales of drinks on-board ships and it looks like Carnival are not prepared to lose any of that profit.

The cruise line have decided to ban all bottled beverages on-board their ships and are not going to let the smugglers sneak any more booze on-board.

We’ve all been guilty of trying to cut the bar bill by sneaking a beverage on-board. The drinks prices can notoriously be quite high on ships and being on your hols you want to relax have a drink without worrying about the size of the drinks bill at the end of your cruise so a bottle or two of your favourite tipple to leave in your cabin can ease this cost.

A lot of us think it’s worth a gamble and even though you can risk the humiliation of your bags being searched and drink confiscated we are still prepared to give it a sneaky shot. A little trick for constant cruisers are taking water bottle’s full of gin or such like, but Carnival are now banning these bottles.

From the 09th July Carnival are banning any bottled beverages on-board and instead allowing a single bottle of fine wine or champagne and any non-alcoholic drinks can only be brought on in a can or carton.

To justify this change Carnival will be reducing the price of their 12 pack bottled water to appease any disgruntled clients.

Carnival are taking the booze smuggling very serious and have even gone down the line of the staff at port security being armed with metal detectors ready to nab any bottles being smuggled on.

I’m sure that this isn’t going to blight the professional smugglers and a new trick will probably be dreamed up to evade this but Carnival are adamant that they are doing it for the good of the client and nothing to do with the dent in their pockets !!! They have said that searching for alcohol greatly slows down embarkation and they are trying to ensure safety of all passengers to decrease any security incidents related to much alcohol consumption.

My take on this is simple really if you are really unhappy with the cruise line prices on drinks and think that it’s too much to afford then simply go with P&O whom have the lowest drinks prices at sea and no service charges on the drinks bill or take advantage of the cruise lines offering the all-inclusive drinks packages.

I personally think it will only be a matter of time before all the cruise lines go all inclusive and this would be the answer to all the problems and no one’s going to be dehydrated on their cruise holidays.

Cheers to that !!!
