Royal Caribbean Group To Install Fast Internet Across Fleet

For avid cruisers who love to surf the web while surfing out at sea, Royal Caribbean Group has announced exciting plans to install high-speed internet across a range of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises ships.

In a first for the cruising industry, Royal Caribbean Group has joined forces with SpaceX to implement its Starlink high-speed satellite internet service across its fleet of ships.

Deployment of the Starlink technology will begin immediately, after being trialled onboard Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas, and is due to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2023.

All new Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea Cruises ships – including the hotly anticipated Icon of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas – will have the high-speed broadband installed on board too.

Our purpose as a company is to deliver the best vacation experiences to our guests responsibly, and this new offering, which is the biggest public deployment of Starlink’s high-speed internet in the travel industry so far, demonstrates our commitment to that purpose.

This technology will provide game-changing internet connectivity onboard our ships, enhancing the cruise experience for guests and crew alike. It will improve and enable more high-bandwidth activities like video streaming as well as activities like video calls.

Using Starlink is one more example of our continued focus on innovation and excellence for our guests, our crew, the communities we visit and our shareholders.

Jason Liberty, President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Caribbean Group

Now with super fast internet being installed across a range of Royal Caribbean Group vessels, passengers can keep connected with friends and family – no matter where they are travelling to.

Royal Caribbean Group’s trio of award-winning cruise brands sail to a whopping 1,000 destinations around the world, including the tropical paradise of the Caribbean, historic and romantic destinations dotted around the Mediterranean and the breathtaking landscapes which adorn Alaska.

Royal Caribbean Group selecting Starlink to provide high-speed, low-latency internet across their fleet will make their passengers’ getaways even more luxurious.

We couldn’t be more excited to work with Royal Caribbean Group to ensure travelers at sea can stay connected with a great internet experience.
