Princess Cruises Shoots For The Stars With Second Sphere Class Ship

Princess Cruises has announced that Star Princess will be the name of the newest ship to join the cruise line’s fleet.

The second ship in Princess Cruises’ stunning Sphere Class, will sail the Mediterranean during its inaugural season in 2025.

Star Princess will join its sister ship, Sun Princess, as the largest ships ever built for the cruise line: standing at 175,500 tons, and carrying a sensational 4,300 guests. She will also be the second in the fleet to be powered by LNG fuel technology, and is being built with the most advanced sustainable innovations available.

Currently under construction at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard, the new ship is designed to embrace Princess heritage, while also celebrating the sea’s romance- offering more dynamic and outward views.

20% larger than any of the line’s existing ships, Star Princess will be host to many new, ground-breaking spaces, including The Dome, the next-level Piazza, the Princess Arena, and a majestic dining room delivering exceptional views.

Other dazzling features onboard Princess’ newest addition include exciting new food and beverage concepts; an expanded casino; a two-story Lotus Spa; and a plethora of mesmerising entertainment, headlined by Cirque Éloize.

Additionally, guests will benefit from expanded accommodation options with luxurious staterooms and suites, featuring the new Reserve and Signature Collections. And, of course, Star Princess will showcase the exclusive Princess Medallion service- delivering exceptional personalised experiences.

Debuting on 5th August 2025, Star Princess will sail a nine-day Inaugural Italy and Greece roundtrip voyage from Rome (Civitavecchia). The cruise will feature beautiful Mediterranean destinations, including Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini and Naples (for Capri and Pompeii); followed by a variety of 9- and 10-day sailings departing from Rome, Athens or Trieste (Venice), visiting a selection of idyllic coastal ports.

“There’s much to be admired about Star Princess – her sleek, eye-catching design, spacious interiors, and of course, the remarkable views of the sea and sky, just like the features found on Sun Princess that have prompted cruise lovers to snap up inaugural year bookings. We’ve carefully designed these ships to feel familiar to our guests yet significantly advanced with lots of exceptional new and expanded experiences to embrace and explore.”

John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises
