MSC Cruises Installs Starlink Fleet-Wide

Cruisers will soon be able to enjoy faster wi-fi speeds onboard MSC Cruises ships, thanks to the cruise line’s rollout of SpaceX’s Starlink internet service.

Two-thirds of MSC Cruises’ ships today are utilising Starklink, which uses a series of low-orbit satellites to connect users to the internet. Use of Starlink across MSC Cruises’ fleet means that guests can enjoy better wi-fi in cabins and public spaces, and reduced latency levels.

MSC Magnifica was the first ship in the fleet to be equipped with the innovative service, and MSC Cruises says that its fleetwide rollout of the technology should be completed by May 2024. Ships currently equipped with Starlink include MSC Divina, MSC Euribia, MSC Fantasia, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Lirica, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Orchestra, MSC Poesia, MSC Preziosa, MSC Seascape, MSC Seashore, MSC Seaside, MSC Seaview and MSC Virtuosa.

MSC Cruises’ luxury sister brand, Explora Journeys, has already equipped its current ship, Explora I, with Starlink. Explora Journeys hotly anticipated new ship, Explora II, is due to have the service available onboard when the ship launches in August 2024.

Guests onboard MSC Cruises ships can access high-speed Starlink internet via the ‘Browse Internet Cruise Package’ or ‘Browse & Stream Cruise Package’. These packages can be purchased, for an additional fee.
