Jenna’s Cruise Jaunts

The Irish Sea in December…. Never Again !!

So I have not long returned from my first annual Christmas Conference here at cruise.co.uk, I haven’t attended the last 2 years so decided I would give it a bash and see what I’ve been missing.

The conference itself was great and it was so nice to meet colleagues face to face.

What wasn’t so great was sailing from Bristol to Dublin and back over the Irish sea mid-December on the Marco Polo which only holds 800 passengers so a relatively small ship. The Sea Sickness was real !! The first night I couldn’t even eat dinner, I had made a great effort to get ready for the fancy dress themed night ahead, managed to get Scotts bar on the top deck at the AFT of the ship to then not be able to stand in my heels because of the movement. I lasted about 30 minutes before heading back to my cabin where I was then so sick I had to crawl from the bathroom to my bed. Lights off at 9 pm and sleeping for 10 pm.

The next day we had arrived on dry land in Dublin, I decided to attend the conference and then head back to my cabin to get ready for the night ahead. It was a great night, cruise.co.uk had hired out the upstairs of Bad Bobs Temple Bar and I made the most of the night as I knew the next night we would be sailing back to Bristol and it was forecasted to be rougher than the first night !!! And yes it was, I was back in my cabin 4pm and I didn’t make it out again.

The Marco Polo its self was fine, I didn’t really manage to stomach much food but from what I did eat it was good. I did do a ship visit last year and wrote a blog about it so if you want to read about the ship then you can click here to read my blog.
