See Three Cunard Queens in Liverpool Next Month

April 23, 2015

Cunard have now revealed details about the Three Queens Salute in Liverpool.

The Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth will gather in Liverpool to mark Cunard’s 175th anniversary, and sail together there for the first time in history.

You can see when the Three Queens gathered in Southampton for Queen Mary 2’s 10th birthday, and even sang (tooted?) a birthday jingle right here;

The event will take place on May Bank Holiday – and here is exactly what you can expect…

On Sunday 24th May the Queen Mary 2 will arrive at 9am at Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal. At 10pm you can expect a light projection show and a firework display at half past.

Monday the 25th is when the majority of events take place, as Queen Mary 2 meets up with her sister ships at the mouth of the Mersey River.

Between 12 and 2pm you can watch all three Queens sail in formation towards the Liverpool Echo Arena – get those binoculars ready! Weather permitting they will also perform some manoeuvres.

On Tuesday 26th there will also be a special musical sail-away performance for the Queen Victoria.

Angus Struthers, Cunard’s Director said: “Liverpool will host the gathering of our three majestic Queens on the Mersey.  The event will provide a spectacle that will live long in the memories of those who attend.

“If the excitement and buzz that there is currently around the city is an indication of the reception the fleet is going to receive over the three-day period then it is difficult to describe the excitement, emotion and passion there will be at the time.

“The Fleet is coming!”

Hundreds of thousands are expected to line the streets to welcome and watch the ships.

Joe Anderson, the Mayor of Liverpool said: “I have no doubt that Liverpool will shine under the international spotlight and this will be an unforgettable moment in the city’s history for all the right reasons.”

Some of our consultants will also be in attendance to fill you in on all the gossip from the event.
