Breaking News: NCL Jade To Sail From Southampton in 2017

January 26, 2016

The team have just heard that the Norwegian Jade is set to sail from Southampton in the summer of 2017. She will be sailing on varied itineraries to Western Europe, Norway, Iceland and Scotland.

The Jade is one of NCL’s most popular mid-sized ships with room for 2,402 passengers and a choice of nineteen different dining options. She is currently sailing on Mediterranean itineraries.

As well as this, Norwegian Cruise Line have recently announced more details about their fleet wide refurbishment programme called “Norwegian Edge.” The $400 million dollar initiative is set to improve the passenger experience and began with work on the Norwegian Epic last year. It will apparently bring significant improvement to all vessels.

The NCL Jade will receive refurbishment as part of this upgrade in spring 2017, before she is set to sail from Southampton.

Passengers can expect to find improvements on-board such as an even greater focus on food. Certain members of each ship’s cooking teams will be required to be certified by the American Culinary Foundation to raise the bar for food standards. New menus will also be added and new dishes found in the no-charge dining rooms. Speciality dining options such as La Cucina, Moderno Churrascaria, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Teppanyaki will also have an aesthetic face lift.

The ports the ships visit will also receive an upgrade, with the line’s private island (Great Stirrup Cay) receiving a refresh scheduled for spring 2017. Harvest Caye, NCL’s second private port resort, is set to open in November 2016 and is available for guests on Western Caribbean itineraries.
