Refit for the Independence – courtesy of travel agents

Royal Caribbean have finally announced details of a multi million pound refit of their much love Independence of the Seas.

The ship which is a favourite with UK cruise passengers and home ports in Southampton is being updated to come in line with Royals newer state of the art ships. However she will also have some features that are new to the fleet.

Whilst planning how to enhance the ship, Royal Caribbean asked for suggestions from travel agents via the trade publication Travel Weekly and via Facebook. I suggested adding trampolines to the ship and I’m really chuffed to see that a trampoline park is being added. Although I’m sure I wasn’t the only person to suggest this. My son and I love going to trampoline parks although I confess I’m slightly worried about how they will deal with any injuries that occur.

Other enhancements that are being introduced courtesy of travel agent suggestions are water slides, an escape room and laser tag. The above video gives a sneak preview of how it’s all going to look,

Sales Director UK & Ireland for Royal Caribbean, Amanda Darrington, commented ‘We at Royal Caribbean have the confidence our travel agent partners will create an unforgettable holiday experience for our mutual customers.

It gives us great pleasure to see ideas become reality and this is a very unique way to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to our trade partners.

Royal Caribbean will also be announcing further enhancements over to coming months and I promise to keep you updated.
