A Day to Remember

Today I was a very proud mum as my son laid a wreath at the local cenotaph.

Milo is a member of a local concert band and plays in their training band,  which he has been doing with about 10 other children for a few years now. The main band  play the hymns during the Remembrance Service and this was the first year that they have asked a member of the training band to lay the wreath on their behalf and I was overwhelmed when they e-mailed and asked if he’d like to do it.

The service was attended by several hundred people and began with a church service before moving on to the cenotaph, with a parade involving the Royal British Legion, members of the armed forces, Scouts and Brownies.  A full Remembrance Service  followed and  the laying of the wreaths. I’m sad to say that Milo hasn’t attended a Remembrance Service before but we prepped him well  and he walked forward and did his duty with the respect that it deserved.

The weather held out except for a small shower, although it was mighty cold. The only downside to the sunshine being the effect that they had on my photos, so please excuse their quality.
