Can Celebrity Better Themselves With Their Latest Offering?

Time and time again when I speak to my Celebrity Cruises passengers, they are full of nothing but praise for them.

I’m a huge fan of Celebrity myself having sailed aboard Solstice and Reflection respectively.

The first time I stepped aboard Solstice was a real jaw dropper for me. One word… Stunning.

Here we are talking about an exceptionally designed fleet of ships; Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette & Reflection, each of which seems to have slightly improved each time the next was released.

At the time of release, Solstice was somewhat ground breaking in terms of quality, class, design & allure. And I’m pleased to say having just had an email from a client who is currently sailing around Australia aboard her, still has all of the above in abundance despite her now being a few years old.

In the next few weeks, Celebrity Cruises will be releasing more about their new ship, Celebrity Edge, arguably the worst named ship since Norwegian Epic.

But the reason I am so interested in the Edge is down to the fact that I’m not sure if Celebrity can improve on near perfection which they seem to still be delivering on the Solstice Family of ships.

We have seen projects like this before and seemingly not do as well as first thought, P&O had problems with both Ventura and Britannia after initial release, changing the design formula and rushing the ships out, and consequently ending up with poor feedback in the first year. Likewise when Quantum of the Seas did her maiden voyage with Royal Caribbean, they ended up having to give half the profits from the sailing back to the customers after various problems.

The issue can be that customers like what they like, and a winning formula can quickly be broken if too much is changed.

Don’t get me wrong, I have every confidence that Celebrity will pull the Edge off no problem, and from what I can see, she so far looks pretty darn incredible. Improved features & facilities, and no doubts a design that will make even the toughest to please sit back in awe.

I just hope they don’t forget what gives them such a well placed position in the market, and try to pretend they are something they are not.

All remains to be seen, so good luck Celebrity, let’s hope 2017 will take us to a new Edge of cruising!

Thanks for reading and feel free to give me a call for more info about Celebrity Edge!

As always, until next time……….
