Top 5 Cruise Ports I would love to wake up in.

One of the  best part of cruising in my opinion is waking up in a different port each day. There are thousands of cruise ports around the world. Each are different and special in the own way ( be it good or bad).  But the first impression about your destination you will get, is when you look out of your balcony, picture window or from on deck for the first time. So which are the best ones? Here are my “Top 5 cruise ports I would love to Wake up in”

I would love to hear which ports would be on your bucketlist, or maybe you have already experienced the “Best cruise Port”.

5/  Santorini~Greece

The volcanic Island of Santorini, is a beautiful cruise destination. The main port is situated near the main town of Fira, however the port is a small therefore a tender is required for Santorini. They anchore near the cliffs of Fira, resulting in  the most breath-taking view over the island dotted with whitewashed homes, black-pebble beaches, rich vineyards, and ancient ruins, and approaching its beautiful bowl-shaped harbor by ship is a dramatic experience. You really could do with two days there, one to explore the island and a 2nd to simply sit on deck and take in them spectacular views.

4/ The Big Apple~ New York City

From serenity to big city buzz.  Manhattan cruise terminal is  located on the Hudson River only a few blocks west of Times Square in the heart of Manhattan. As soon as you step foot off your cruise you are captivated by the concrete jungle that is New York City. Whether you are looking forward to sightseeing, shopping, chilling in Central park or seeing a show. Your stay in is this fabulous city will never be boring.

3/ Venice – Italy.

Venice is probably Europe’s Busiest cruise port,  Everywhere you look here, you’re stunned by the sheer beauty of the city’s architecture and its huge wealth of art. Also Romance like no other city should be high on the agenda with  gondolas slipping down watery alleyways and the elegant palazzos emerging straight from the sea. However this beautiful cruise destination is unfortunately set to be a thing of the past for cruise passengers due to the locals on going worry to the damage they believe the  industry is doing to this fragile city and soon will limit the size of the vessels entering. Time will tell.

2/Juneau, Alaska

With a backdrop  like this how could Juneau not be on my list. Located on the Gastineau Channel, less than 100 miles from the US-Canadian border, it is famous not only for gold and government but also for its breathtakingly beautiful glaciers and stunning views of both water and mountains. The highlights for me in Juneau and must do shore excursions would have to be Whale watching for a close up of the beautiful humpback whale and my daughters favourite the Orcas. Also Dog sledding, experience flying over the snow, or visit the summertime training grounds for a ride in a wheeled sled. Both of which are top on most visitors list and should be book in advance to avoid disappointment.

1/ Castaway Cay ~ Bahamas

So “Top of the Ports” are you really surprise after all I am  the queen of Disney, therefore my top 5 wouldn’t be complete without a bit of Disney Magic right at the top spot . Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, and can only be visited with Disney Cruise line. This family friendly location has a pristine beach lined with colorful umbrellas. Each one is the centerpiece for two adjustable lounge chairs and two beach chairs. There are a few hammocks scattered about for extreme relaxation. However “FUN” is the main game in Castaway Cay with activities for all the family and just  few surprise guest along the way.
