Too young for Disney!!! Really??????

When someone talks about Disney, I think “fun for all ages”, and as one of their biggest fans and known affectionately as the “Disney Queen”. However I hate to say it but, I was disappointed in a article I read about Disney cruise line today.

A family was recently asked to leave the Disney Wonder after their 4 month old baby girl fell poorly on board and visited the ships doctor.

The young family joined the Disney Vessel on 30th Dec along with a large group of their closest relatives on a dream holiday as a “bucket list” trip for one of their terminally ill parents. During the first few days of the trip the young child start to show signed of seasickness and they visited the on board doctor.

A few hours later, the parents were contacted by the doctor’s office for a follow-up, but instead of a check-up they were told they would need to get off the ship for safety reason’s because of the girl’s age.

It emerged that Disney Cruise Line had changed its policy on infant travel last summer. Babies younger than 12 weeks had previously not been allowed on board but, starting from 1 January, the age requirement was increased to six months old. At time of booking the booking conditions had clearly included the 4 month olds young age, and therefore  the family would not be affected by this change, or so they thought.

Disney Cruise Line has refused to comment on specifics of why the child was removed, citing reasons of “medical privacy.” Disney only advised that the child was not removed due to her age but because the on-board doctor felt the child needed medical care at a land-based hospital.  The baby was checked out at a Bahamian hospital, where staff said she just had a bad case of wind.

So if family with young children cannot travel with “Disney” the biggest family business in the world, who can they cruise with.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Disney cruise line were right in asking the family to leave? Or do you think they over reacted?

Is 4 months too young to be travelling with babies?

I myself have been travelling abroad with my children on land based holidays since they were 8 weeks old was never fazed about this, I would have been fuming had I been that family.

On a more positive note Disney Cruise have not been upsetting everybody this week after a gentleman managed to fall over board from RCCL Oasis of the sea at the weekend The Disney Magic were on hand to save him. When asked how he manage fall over board he said that he was walking on deck and a big wave  just washed him away???????

I think this passenger may have been watching too many Disney movies and had someone else in mind to save him 😉

Until next time
