Psssss!!! Do you want to hear a secret?

Royal Caribbean have recently made a big but very quiet change to their corkage charges.

In the past RCCL customers have been allowed to bring on board 2 bottles of wine or champagne to consume within their stateroom, or they have been charged  $25 corkage fee to open a bottle of wine in their restaurants and lounges, but good news is that this charge has apparently been removed with immediate effect.

Although they still feature these charges within their booking conditions, rumours of this change have been circling this week from RCCL’s Twitter and Facebook pages.

Passengers are allowed to bring two bottles of wine or Champagne (up to 750 ml each) onboard at embarkation. Additional bottles brought onboard or purchased in port are confiscated and returned to the passengers on the last day of the cruise.

What’s you thoughts on wine Corkage? Do you take wine on board with the intention of drinking in  public areas?

Now I’m not going to lie, I do like to pack a bottle or two for consumption in my cabin. I can understand taking a bottle of your favourite wine or a vintage bottle of  Cristal which you know to be unavailable to buy on board, but turning up with a bottle of Lambrini because you don’t want to pay the wine prices on board I think is really what “Corkage charges” are probably designed for.

Have you been on a Royal Caribbean Cruise in recent weeks and found these rumours to be true, I would love to hear from you.

If not Only time will tell, if and when their travel terms and conditions change you will be the first to know. Until then if you don’t want to take the chance of being charged this fee I have the perfect solution 😉
