Rule Britannia

P&O’s latest ship to join the Fleet is well on its way to completion and is set to sail in just 165 days time.

Britannia is the largest ship to be built exclusively for sailings out of the UK and will have the largest Union Jack Flag in the world using over 400 litres of paint.

For you stat lovers there’s more, this 141,000 ton vessel will hold 1350 crew, 3647 passengers, have 15 passenger decks and 15 bars, 13 different restaurants and 4 pools.

Like many other ships hitting the oceans this ship has no outside cabins meaning of the 1837 cabins 1313 are balconies, 15 of which are exclusively for and priced for single travellers. In total the Britannia has 27 single cabins which from my experience is great and will be great news for those normally being hit by a 70%+ single supplement.

So what’s there to do onboard? Well for a start there are 9 different entertainment areas, a library, Gym, P&Os biggest shopping area, 3 tier atrium, an art collection worth over a million pounds, sports arena, a spa and if you’re travelling with babies there’s a night nursery as well as 4 different age group kids clubs. Clearly something for everyone.

As well as all this Britannia has lined up some great names to make sure your taste buds are treated well and your cooking skills are improved.

The Glass house is inspired by Olly Smith , Atul Kochhar brings the flavours of his native India onboard, Marco Pierre White does what Marco does best and James Martin is the lead name in the Cookery Club showing and teaching his cooking skills. These are 2 hour long sessions and to avoid disappointment I would recommend booking your place via your cruise personliser.

I’m a big fan of what Royal Caribbean have to offer on their ships but I am looking forward to this British version and I am fortunate enough to be going on the ship for 3 days before its maiden voyage to see and enjoy what it has to offer. And yes all the above entertainment options and just 3 days but I will be giving it a good go to see all that I can.

Have you booked on here yet? Do you intend to? All 2015 sailings are looking like a sell out so if you want to try it don’t hang around.
