Face lift for a Queen

qm2

And I am not talking about our dear monarch , but the Queen Mary2 of the Cunard fleet, we were lucky enough to have our annual conference on board last year, there were signs that she was a little tired, though talking to people who travel with her on a regular basis they all felt it was over due.

so In May 2016 she goes into dry dock for the long awaiting face lift.

In particular all 172 grill suites are to have a complete revamp, and both restaurants servicing these suites will be given more tables for two along with the luxury we have come to expect at this level. They are not stopping with the grills ,They are adding 15 new single cabins in the Britannia club balconies. The single cabins are going to be very popular, there are never enough and I predict they will be booked up very early. so all you singles out there who want to sample this should not consider waiting for “late” deals.

She has been in service since 2004 and as she still is the only ocean liner at sea, with the only planetarium at sea too!!

I am sure there are technical wizards out there who will know , but I am told by a customer (ex Navy) the difference with the QM is the hull, most of the big ships being launched now are not designed to do the Transatlantic crossings, they still do them , but only as re positioning and mostly twice a year. The QM goes back and forth to New York nearly all year , apart from when she is on her world Cruise January – May

If you time it right you can get across to New York, stay for five nights , then sail back, think of the shopping, no weight restrictions !! Many people who do not like flying use this as a means of getting to the states , what a way to do it !!

Might even consider this myself , after the revamp !!
