Amazed at lack of compassion

refugee

I have been reading articles recently where cruise ships have helped people stranded in the middle of the ocean being on this horrendous journey from war torn countries , often with all they own just on their back.

Reading an article I came across this which has come from customers !!!”

“They’re asking, ‘Do I want to go to sea and have my vacation disrupted?,’” . “‘What if the ship has to stop to pick up refugees? I don’t know who they are, what am I exposing myself to?’ There is a consternation.”

I know we are being inundated by the refugees from various regions, and as a citizen I have as many concerns as the next person , but really , women and small children , even babies , stranded at sea , who would not pick them up ?

The Island Princess bought 117 of these poor souls on board in May this year and I for one applaud the line for doing this, it actually gave me some belief back in human nature. I hope I am never too concerned over a holiday, than someones child being warm safe and dry.

All ships are bound by international law to assist those in distress at sea, why should these people be any different.

How do you feel about it, would you be upset if it happened on your cruise ?
