Something’s gotta give!

We all love a bargain, right?  I know I do.  But I’ve been thinking about the way the cruise industry is going at the moment.

P&O have some fantastic offers out there at the moment.  They were selling 7 night cruises on Azura for £399 per person a couple of weeks ago.

In the 16 years I’ve been in the industry, I’ve never known the prices and offers to be as competitive as they are now.

The trouble is, we’ve also seen an increase in people telling us that standards are slipping with certain lines.

My theory is, at prices like that, it’s not possible to sustain the level of service and quality we’ve all come to know and love from cruise lines when the prices are so low!  The prices are being driven down to rock bottom and something has to give.

Unfortunately, this is isn’t fair on the people that HAVE booked in advance and paid the higher fare as they too are receiving the lower level of service.

So what do we want?  Rock bottom prices and the ‘you get what you pay for’ attitude or do we want to pay more and get the impeccable service?  We can’t have both!

What’s more important?  Would you be happy to book in advance and pay more to know that you were going to have a fantastic cruise with the high levels of service and 5 star food or would you rather wait until the last minute to book to get a bargain and maybe not receive the standard of service you’re used to?

Let me know.  I’m genuinely interested.
