Vegan Cruise?

Vegan Cruise? Yes, you read that correctly. Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) are to offer the first Vegan cruise. Cruise & Maritime’s new flagship Columbus is the first Ocean Liner to go all out Vegan.

This September from Tilbury, Columbus sets sail to the Fjords. The menu on this cruise will be 100% Vegan with buffets and multi-course dinners on board along with guest speakers offering knowledge on vegan subjects, lifestyle classes and a wellness programme including Yoga and Pilates.

CMV is also able to accommodate those following gluten free, raw food and macrobiotic diets and the menu changes daily.

The ports of call on the 7 night cruise are Eidfjord, Flam, Geiranger and Bergen. Typical Fjords of courses.

Now, I have never known a cruise ever do this before. This is certainly the first and I actually believe this will do well. However, what if your Wife or Girlfriend, is a Vegan and wants to board this cruise and you like a good steak. What do you do? Send your partner off with a Vegan friend or look at it as a healthy diet week going Vegan? Personally, I’m not sure I could go a week as a Vegan. I would miss my meat. We could get off on another debate about eating animals but perhaps we’ll save that for another time. For the record, although I eat meat I am absolutely against cruelty to animals and believe in stun before slaughter and that Halal is just murder. I think we should all care for animals to the best of our ability and let them roam free, have food and shelter and when the comes it should be in a humane way with no suffering.

Now, getting back to this cruise. What do you think? Would you board an Ocean liner that is strictly Vegan, that you won’t get to book into a speciality restaurant like a Chops Grille?

This will be really interesting to see how well this sells. I shall look out for this cruise and see just how many cabins I personally sell. I’ll certainly be doing my bit. I’ll promote this cruise on social media and I’ll recommend it anyone who I speak to. I get asked often if cruises do enough for vegetarians and vegans. Well, now we have the answer. A 100% Vegan cruise.

Let me know if you’ll book on this or know of anyone who’s a vegan may consider this cruise, and get them to give me a call because this could just be the perfect answer.
