Rock Dinosaurs ‘Yes’ to host Prog Rock Festival At Sea – ‘Hurray’ I Hear You Cry!

Over recent years the ‘themed’ cruise has become more and more popular, you can now take a ‘Nudist Cruise’, a ‘Psychics Cruise’ and even for the ardent Trekkies among you a ‘Cruise with a Klingon’ but it seems music festivals at sea continue to prove the most popular.

So this November 15th Norwegian Cruise Lines are giving you the chance to join fellow like minded 70’s throwbacks in a celebration of Prog Rock by hosting the third annual Cruise to the Edge progressive rock festival at sea. The festival, named after their 1972 album Close To The Edge will feature a series of concerts from rock legends Yes and over a dozen other bands on Norwegian Pearl’s voyage from Miami.

Where else would you get the opportunity to witness so many ageing, bearded men widdling around on stage creating day after day of wild rambling, directionless music which quite frankly never even made sense at the time?! – Surely it’s a winner!

According to the official website of the concert festival at sea, the other performers include Marillion, Anathema, Alan Holdsworth, Three Friends, PFM, Saga, Martin Barre, Caravan, Spock’s Beard, Nektar, Änglagrd, Lifesigns, Bigelf, IO Earth, Airbag, Casey McPherson, Messenger, Dave Kerzner, Moon Safari, Barracuda Triangle, Jolly, Enchant, Thank You Scientist, Steve Rothery, Bad Dreams, and AHEPJ – a favourite for everyone in that lot I’m sure you’ll agree.

During the four-night journey, the best acts in progressive rock from today and yesterday will showcase their skills and not only will British journalist and Yes expert Jon Kirkman host the concert festival, but there will also be a pre-voyage concert featuring Martin Barre of Jethro Tull, Three Friends and Lifesigns in Miami on Nov. 14.

So for all you Spock’s Beard fans out there, don’t hesitate to contact me to arrange your trip of a lifetime!

Bye for now.
