Is your loyalty membership paying you back?

  • Clients often wonder if they should register for a membership and what it’s worth. With some cruise lines, guests are automatically enrolled but with others you have to actively do it yourself. Memberships are not all the same and different cruise lines offer different benefits but are they all worth having? I have noticed over the years not all cruise lines reward their loyal clients in different ways, some are much better than others and some not even worth thinking about. I’m only going to give more info about the ones worth having or we could be here for a while! The best companies at rewarding the loyalty of their clients are Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises were clients are offered a number of benefits. These benefits can save a decent amount of money and the best rewards are those offered on board, at booking stage they will offered some discounts or upgrades, but these are not quantified in substantial amounts. The level of memberships are Gold 3 points, Platinum 30 points, Emerald 55 points, Diamond 80 points, Diamond Plus 175 points, Pinnacle Club 7000 points. Each sailing day is worth a point so it’s easy to go up in levels if you are a regular cruiser. Here’s a list of rewards but the best reward is the access to the Diamond lounge where Crown & Anchor® Society members enjoy complimentary continental breakfast, and most importantly evening drinks on a daily basis. The rest of the benefits below are just lovely touches but the real worth benefit is the free drinks in the evening. For paying guests, each drink can easily cost $9.00 each including the extra gratuities at 18% and you don’t have to go overboard to end up with a big bill at the end of your cruise. For guests who have travelled with Rci and Celebrity and haven’t enrolled, the old bookings can be tracked and can be added onto a new membership.
