Afternoon tea like a Queen

Last Sunday i enjoyed an afternoon tea with my family and it brought back memories of the traditional afternoon tea i was served on the Queen Mary 2,

Afternoon Tea has been a tradition for Centuries and one of the most worldwide spread English traditions. It began in the 1840′s where it was a popular event by high society and Royals. Cunard has served afternoon tea for decades and they certainly know how it’s done. It’s more than a tradition for Cunard as it reinforces their heritage together with the White Star service. It was last year when we went for our short winter trip on the Queen Mary 2 and it was definitely an indulgent affair not to be missed. It was served in the Queen’s Room from 15.30 daily for an hour with the exception of embarkation day. It gets very busy on the days at sea, so it’s a good idea to go early as you may have to queue for a table.  All tables were prepared with Wedgwood China and silver service.

The white gloved waiters came to us with a tray with a large variety of twining teas to choose from as soon as we arrived, others would carry silver platters of finger sandwiches, delicious scones, delicate cakes and pastries.

The harpist playing the background music created a lovely ambiance and set the mood to the posh afternoon tea. So, whether you are a fan of afternoon tea or not you should experience it at least once on any of the Queens ships.
