Concordia…Could it happen again??

I can’t believe it has been 5 year since the Costa Concordia sank. I was in Egypt at the time and my Mom texted me to say had I seen that a cruise ship had sank and did I have any passengers booked on it.

Adonia causes a stir….

After badgering on for the last three years about the lack of small ships on offer to cruisers I was delighted to hear recently that P&O have brought back the good old favorite Adonia to their growing fleet. So many of my passengers were really sad to see her go but are now extremely pleased she is back where she belongs.

Black Friday…. just like any other Friday then……

Well here we are, another year on, and ‘Black Friday’ as it has been called is upon us again. After all the antics and mayhem of last year with people squabbling over flat screen TV’s at Tesco’s, and eager shoppers scouring their favorite retailer for that one off bargain, I have to ask myself is all what it seems.

Brilliant Butlin’s………..

With the school holiday week looming we decided to head down to Butlin’s Minehead last weekend to wear the kids out for the week ahead. Having never been to Butlin’s before as a family we did not know quite what to expect. A few of our friends have been for the party weekends and I hosted the Naughty Reunion for the Thomson Twenty’s programme a few years back so we had a good idea what to expect from the adult only weekends, but as a family with little people it was great fun to see exactly what Butlin’s had to offer.

A 42 year old Phillappines national member of staff sadly died whilst carrying out a safety exercise on board, and four other staff members were also injured. During the exercise a life raft fell approximately 33 feet (10 meters) which resulted in the staff members death and investigators are still looking into exactly what happened.

Clara the camper

After spending 10 years living out of a suitcase overseas many of my customers know that I love heading off to the coast for a bit of Great British sunshine. Me and my partner Mark have recently treated ourselves to a camper van. Now when I say camper van let’s call it more of a motor home, I think we must be the youngest motorhome owners on the planet. We would have loved an old VW or a T5 but when looking into things in a bit more detail we realised with Mark being 6ft2 his legs would most probably be sticking out of the back door.

Be careful what you pack

I read a news item earlier today telling of an Olympian’s mother’s suitcase being blown up by NCL cruises. Quite amusing when you read it but I can imagine the lady in question was not laughing having left the suitcase in the safe hands of security whilst heading off to see her Daughter compete.
