Our Cruise Bulletin featured a great article recently that got me thinking how our expectations have changed over the years, and how great it would be to turn the clock back 50 years and feature some of the entertainment and accommodation on ships that we were lucky enough to have all those years ago. It would certainly make passengers appreciate how things are now a little more and put a smile on a few faces.

With the recent events in Manchester this week it obviously makes us all think about the security around travelling and being in places where large groups of people gather. The perfect target for a cruise ship springs to mind. I recently took a short mini cruise on P&O Ventura and took great interest as to weather or not the security measures had increased since the last time I traveled from Southampton.

I don’t know about you but I love anything that makes life just that bit more easier. I don’t have kids but with my partners three Grandchildren and my two niece’s all under the age of 7 I’m always looking out for new gadgets that just help you get through the day a little more stress free.

We’re heading off on the Ventura this week on a 4 night mini cruise with a day in Bruges and an overnight in Amsterdam. Very excited, I’ve been to both ports but Mark has not been to either. He’s looking forward to seeing if the famous Red light area still exists, only so he can take a photo by the canal with the glow from a bedroom window in the background, ha ha.

Cruise lines have again this week been put in a position to make alterations to Itineraries to ensure passenger safety comes first. Fred Olsen have been forced to substitute Port s on their ‘Black Watch World Cruise’ due to the recent terror attacks in Egypt. It is believed that P&O and Silversea who will also have ships in this area are set to follow suit.

It seems to be that more and more passengers are wanting a one stop shop. A cruise with everything included, no hidden extras or nasty big bills at the end of their stress free holiday.

Does this package come with free WIFI on-board?
This is definitely one of the most popular questions I get asked now when I book a cruise, how times have changed, it used to be dress codes, ‘Do I need to take a dinner jacket?’ Not anymore!

We headed down to Bath earlier this week for an overnight stay to explore the City. As we exited the M4 our car broke down, our beloved Peugout headed back to the Midlands towed by the heaven sent Green Flag man and we called a taxi to pick us up from the Motorway exit, we finally arrived at our Guest House two hours later than planned. Hey ho, onwards and upwards.

Last week Aqua Expedition launched a new sensation but only for us ladies I’m afraid. They have come up with the idea of offering cruises just for ladies.

Last week we headed down to London to see the sights. We took a tour Bus around the City which worked out quite good value for money. For £27 we hopped on & off the bus for 2 full days and the price also included a boat trip down the Thames & Walking tours. We spent a day in Camden town which is my favourite place to be, and ticked all the hot spots off our list.
