Oasis makes a grand entrance

Ship spotters were in for a treat this morning when the largest ship to sail into Southampton arrived through the clearing fog the ‘Oasis of the seas’. To top off the experience Royal Caribbean even served up complimentary coffee and bacon sandwiches to eager awaiting spectators, nice job Royal Caribbean! I hope they offered a vegetarian option too.

Having read a few articles throughout the day it’s surprising how many negative comments there are  about the Oasis, many saying being on-board would be their worst nightmare, norovius would be un-preventable, cramped conditions, likening it to being stuck inside a shopping precinct, or sailing in a tower block. With our Royal Caribbean sales over the last few months I think there are thousands of Royal Caribbean fans who will be more than happy to book a cabin or two.

It’s been quite entertaining to see comments going back and forth between the big ship lovers and haters. Myself, I do prefer a smaller ship but until you have sailed with Royal Caribbean I don’t think you can really judge until you have experienced the full package. Royal Caribbean are certainly pulling out all the stops by showcasing their fleet to the UK market even if it was only for a few hours visit. Don’t get upset though ship spotters as you will be able to get a glimpse of the Quantum of the seas in Southampton on 2nd November before she heads to New York. If you fancy a free bacon butty be sure to get there early.

It’s safe to say Royal Caribbean are certainly giving P&O a run for their money at the moment capturing the younger cruise generation with exceptional experiences available on-board, can’t wait to see how  Britannia measures up next year.
