I don’t think Cunard will forget us in a hurry since descending on the QM2 last weekend for our Christmas booze up, apologies Christmas conference, apparently they took more money over the bar on the second night than they did last New Year’s Eve, and that was our MD’s bar bill alone. To say we had a fantastic time would be an understatement, thanks cruise.co for rewarding us again for all our hard work, you know we’re worth it, here’s some of the best bits……..
Cabin, massive! Biggest ocean view I’ve stayed in, in fact as I tried to sneak into my cabin in the early hours it took me that long to find the bed I almost resorted to snoozing on the sofa which may I add was also very comfortable. Only criticism about the cabin was that the TV was so far away from your bed that you would need bionic glasses to watch it; however we did get a nice bottle of bubbly so all is forgiven!
Food OK, would not say it was the highlight of my weekend, breakfast good, lunch rock hard pizza, evening meal pasta, pasta & pasta. Being vegetarian I do like pasta, I cook it most days so I was hoping there would be something a little more adventurous up for grabs but not being a spicy curry lover I ended up with ‘Penne pasta with tomato sauce’, ‘Mushroom risotto’ and finally on the third night ‘butternut squash tortelini with red pesto’, deserts not great in fact on the last night I opted out. Being a sweet lover this was unheard of. Service OK, not great, in fact our supplier Mike Evans is still waiting for his glass of red to accompany his steak….
Entertainment fantastic, Cunard you exceeded my expectations. Only managed to catch the show on the second evening but on that performance alone I can safely say you did a fantastic job. ‘Tenors of rock’, the most unlikely group I would expect to find on Cunard, XFactor contestants comprising of 5 guys singing your favourite rock Anthems from over the years, dressed like heavy rock party goers with the most superb voices, would definitely recommend these if they are performing near you, well worth a look at. They had the audience rocking in the isles, this is their promo VT, let’s just say they were very popular with the ladies……..
Bruges, goes without saying picturesque, chocolate shops, horse and carriages, winding canals, cobbled streets, complete with German Market & ice skating rink, what more could you wish for, even the weather was great.
Atmosphere on board was fantastic, everybody was there to have a great time, from the classy karaoke in the ‘Golden Lion’, one guy even got up and sang ‘A boy named sue’ by Johnny cash, one of my favourites, if you’ve never heard it before then you’re missing out. We spent a lot of our time between the Golden Lion and the nightclub G32, however if I could dance I would have loved to have taken a spin around the Queens room, The QM2 was dressed from head to toe with classic Christmas decor including ‘The wind in the willows’ & a fantastic Ginger bread display. Combining this with realms of Cunard history I really felt I was sailing on an icon.
Funniest bits…. My colleague James taking over the DJ booth playing us some great tunes………..
Our Wendi demonstrating her acrobatic skills, classic………….
Me & my cabin neighbour Lee pinching a continental breakfast courtesy of our cabin steward on the way to our beds at 5:30am………
Great people, beautiful LINER, we had a ball…..
Thanks Cunard, we’re giving you the big thumbs up
See you next time…………….
