A cruise or the Cornish coast?

I’ve just returned from a very chilled out week down in Cornwall. I have be honest if I had to choose a week in the UK with great weather, beautiful beaches, good live bands and spending it with friends or a cruise, I’m afraid the cruise holiday will always come a close second.

As we have a dog we tend to save the vouchers out of the Newspapers and take pot luck for where we go. It has always paid off and we have a great time wherever we end up. This time I did two short breaks back to back and managed to get on a good site at Parkdean in Newquay.

When we arrived I advised we had two breaks back to back if this helped when allocating our accommodation. The receptionist advised that this was fine and upgraded us into a new 8 berth van which took pets. We were really pleased and surprised they would allow us to have the accommodation allocated as it would have normally cost £1200 for the week high season and thought we would not get anything so good with taking Fred the chocci lab, and also with having paid a fraction of the cost.

We tend to base ourselves in a good central location then head out each day to do a bit of retail therapy and find a good pub for lunch and a few pints of Cider.

Newquay is great, good for shopping and great to watch the surfers on Fistral beach, nightlife really good if you like live music and perfect if you’re looking to go down with friends for a good night out.

We headed to Port Isaac where we have been before and love the views and always have a pint in the Red Lion pub looking over the bay where they film Doc Martin.

We even took our friend to Doc Martins house to see if he could get a spot of after sun cream, after a little too much sun on Fistral beach ha ha.

We then popped over to Padstow to see what Rick Stein had to offer for lunch………

St Ives is also one of our favourites, great for shopping and a bowl of muscles in the harbour with a pint of Rattlers is definitely recommended.

On the way home we stopped off at Bude and managed to fit in a cream tea in Woolacombe, watching the sun go down for the last time this year for us on the Cornish coast.

I would move to Cornwall easily any day of the week.
